This is a pretty mild version of my cross hatching. I tend to go really far out with it but I had this on a small paper so I couldn't cleanly fit in all the details. I have so many different styles in my head that I can do but I just like this one the most I guess. If I were to ever do commissions I would probably let them pick between styles.
It first started off as a round, cutesy style. Inspired by Pokemon and Kirby somewhat, with Egyptian-styled sparkly eyes, cat noses, and cat-like ears.
Then it went to a more detailed style, with longer eyelashes/extensions. Pretty much close to my current style, except without the exaggerated bodies, uglier eyes (they took up space) less detailed noses, and lips. The hair also didn't have as much texture. It was more Generic RPG anime style inspired. (Mainly Fire Emblem) Here's what it looks like: [link][link][link]
My current style? I dunno where I got it from, really. It first started off as messy, and the cheeks were very puffy. I just decided to add some crosshatching here and there, give my characters detailed hair textures, cleaner eyes, more exaggerated bodies, and of course more detailed faces. I wanted to strain away from anime as possible so my style could stand out since I want to be an animator with a recognizable style. I guess I was influenced by some of the random art styles here on deviantART that I liked. Little did I know that as you progress in your artistic skill, your style will start to come up.
Yeah, just recently my style started to become apparent. I got a lot of my inspiration at first from a manga called Shaman King. It's not the most popular one but is still extremely awesome. *_* Then it went from that to more disney stuff. So I guess my style is a mixture between Disney and Shaman King. :3
